About five years ago, Garett Envall of Cromwell, Minnesota was working at the papermill. He was also dabbling in rental properties by purchasing homes and fixing them up. As is the case with just about everything in life, one thing led to another and now Garett is the proud owner of his own company called R-Tech - a company that specializes in polyurethane foam insulation.

It all started when Garett bought an insulation foam sprayer to be used for his fixer-uppers. "I bought a house every few years after I graduating," said Garett. "When I originally purchased the insulation equipment it was intended for my own use. Then I started spraying for other people and I eventually ended up spraying three houses per year on my days off."

At this point, Garett recognized the growth possibilities in the Duluth area. He also studied this advanced technology and discovered that foam insulation has outstanding energy-efficient qualities.

When it comes to the actual foam product and its insulating qualities, Garett has plenty to share. This is now become his passion, and he continues to study and improve the application of foam insulation. Garett explained that he uses a polyurethane product for many reasons. Not only does the foam insulation have a high R-value, it is easy to install, protects against moisture, all gaps or cracks can be sealed, and it provides additional strength to the structure. The biggest advantage to his product is that the R-value is not affected by wind or colder temperatures.
